Flavour

Gloriously fragrant with an intensive taste

Why we can't always do without.

Are flavourings good or bad? Why do they have to be added to some teas whilst others can be enjoyed without them? Why do some of our teas contain natural flavourings and what's the difference?

First of all, we'd like to state that the creation of perfect teas in terms of their quality, effect and, of course, also taste is incredibly important to us. The tea's fragrance and taste, which the flavourings are responsible for, contribute considerably to our well-being. Unfortunately, fruits and herbs often loose a significant part of their actual natural flavour during the drying process that preserves them. Adding flavourings is therefore important to guarantee a consistently good taste. Flavoured tea creations also unlock a completely new and almost limitless range of taste sensations.

NATURE AS A SOURCE AND ROLE MODEL

Since ancient times, people have appreciated aromatic plants for their pleasant taste. Even in ancient China, teas were already flavoured through the addition of fresh blossoms. Jasmine and rose tea are two of these classic flavoured versions that are still appreciated by tea connoisseurs to this day. People realised early on that only a few of the plant's substances were responsible for the taste or fragrance. A process for extracting these valuable substances was therefore already developed in early antiquity. The best-known example is Earl Grey tea: oil of bergamot is added to it to create the popular fresh taste. Calling flavoured teas "non-traditional" is therefore completely unjustified.

A LIMITLESS VARIETY OF FLAVOURINGS

Whether classic tea or the very popular fruit and herbal teas: if you are after a limitless range of taste sensations, the world of flavoured teas is your oyster. We use natural flavourings wherever we can. Unfortunately, there are limits to this in nature, which means that not all flavour varieties are available to us in the form of "natural flavourings". However, whether artificial or natural, we generally ensure that only approved, high-quality nature-identical flavourings are used. For each tea creation, the list of ingredients shows whether it contains natural flavourings as defined in the respective regulations. This allows you to ultimately decide for yourself which tea is the creation that is perfect for you. Whether with or without flavouring – in the end, it's simply a matter of personal taste.
