An enjoyable cooling for the summer

Tea from Kenya? And then even green tea? Absolutely! What many people do not know is that Kenya is one of the world's largest tea exporters, ahead of China. Black tea makes up the largest part, but green tea is still considered a specialty. Yet the tea offers a wonderful flavour profile.

Often people think of Kenya as endless steppes and forget that the country is crossed by mountains up to 3000 meters high. This condition and the special tropical climate allow the tea plants to thrive particularly well and give them their special flavour.

The main tea growing area is located in the highlands of Kenya, very close to the Great Rift Valley. Due to the climatic conditions and volcanic soils, the tea plants can be harvested all year round. For excellent varieties, only young leaf buds and adjacent leaves are used, which are mainly picked by hand.

A special quality feature of the finished green tea is finely twisted leaves with as many white tips as possible, as found in our Kenya Kiru. When infused, the leaves become large and allow a unique flavor to emerge that is fruity and wonderfully balanced. For green tea lovers, this variety is an exciting and tasty change. It is also a wonderful fit for summer, as it is incredibly refreshing and invigorating. In general, green tea, drunk lukewarm, is considered to cool the circulation on hot days. But be sure to observe the correct water temperature of 70 ° C and the short brewing time of 2 minutes.
