Tonka bean
– A magical delicacy
Tonka bean is an exotic spice that is not found in everyday cuisine, but has gained many fans due to its unique flavour. It is used worldwide in desserts, drinks and even perfumes. The beans are the seeds of a cumaru tree native to South America.
Enchanting moments
onka beans are almond-shaped and their colour varies from grey to black. The beans are usually roasted and then crushed to produce a coarse flour. The extract obtained is used therapeutically as well as for flavouring food.
The bean's impressive flavour is strongly associated with its scent of vanilla, cherry, almond and something spicy. Just a few shavings are enough to create a rich aroma. Our new black tea creation Honky Tonka natural with the flavor of bergamot tonka is a real treat.
