YUZU

An extraordinary citrus fruit

< previous Post next Post >

No, this funny-looking, seed-filled fruit is not a deformed lemon or a discoloured orange. It is an exotic citrus fruit from Japan which you ought to have on your radar.

Key information on its origin and history

The yuzu, which is about the size of a mandarin, is grown primarily in Japan, Korea and China. It is incredibly fragrant, but is also very sour and tart, which means that it is not intended for direct consumption. It only gives up a little of its valuable juice and can also be used as a seasoning or for baths to ward off colds. Yuzu has also played an important role in traditional Asian customs: historical records tell of the therapeutic use of yuzu. Cut into pieces and pickled, it is supposed to provide relief for cracked skin and to drive out evil spirits with its aroma.

A real all-rounder

This super fruit is more popular than ever here too. Top chefs, who use its peel and its juice to flavour their cooking, regard it as an insiders’ tip. It is also supposed to contribute to a healthy diet. It is initially highly reminiscent of lemon, but you will soon realise that its flavour is much more complex and intense, but not as sour. In our fruit tea Yuzu mild natural, we have combined it with other unbeatable ingredients, such as spinach and turmeric, which make this fruit tea a brilliant taste experience.

The unique fruit also provides that certain something and pure refreshment in our fruit tea Elderberry Yuzu natural.
